Ofsted inspects all English maintained schools and academies at least once every three years. It then publishes a public report on the school’s performance, students’ work, observation reports on lessons and views from staff, parents and students, and makes suggestions for improvements that the school is expected to put into practice. Schools are rated on a four-point scale: Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement and Inadequate.
