Appeals for school places

Barclay Primary School is an academy and part of the Lion Academy Trust who have responsibility for admission arrangements for the school.  Lion Academy Trust works together with the Local Authority and fully participates in the co-ordinated Scheme for entry into Reception.

Appeals for infant classes:

In reception, year 1 and year 2, the class size is limited to 30. Your application can be turned down if all the classes already have 30 children.

You can still appeal if your child would have been offered a place. Your appeal could be successful if:

  • the admission arrangements haven’t been properly followed
  • the admission criteria aren’t legal according to the school admissions appeal code
  • the decision to refuse your child a place wasn’t reasonable
The admission authority for Barclay Primary School is the Lion Academy Trust.  An appeal to the school regarding a school place will be read at a hearing.  The admission authority, the school, will give parents/carers 10 days' notice of the hearing.
